Principal MatthewsPrincipal's Message

It’s hard to believe that we are into our first days of October, and it actually feels like it! I hope this message finds you well and adjusting to the strange events that are continuing to plague our country and the world. Our prayers are with you all.
As always, the Lord has really blessed our school. We have had no instances of any illnesses and our online students are doing very well. Our first quarter ends October 9th. That means grades will be posted by October 15th. If you don’t already have access to Jupiter, our new grading system, please contact your student’s teacher.
Soon, we will be having our parent/teacher conferences. Depending on the teacher, it may be either Zoom or phone conferences, mostly scheduled for October 15 between 12:30-5:30 pm. Some teachers may choose to schedule outside of those hours as well. If you have not already scheduled your time, please contact your student’s teacher(s) directly. Please remember that on that day, we dismiss at noon, no lunch will be served, and there is no aftercare!
Due to this unique school year, we have had to adjust several events from their usual traditions or dates. Here are a few changes during the month of October. Our awards ceremony is happening as scheduled, but will take place in individual classrooms, so certificates and rewards will be passed out then. (We are very sorry, but in keeping with policy regarding visitors during COVID, no parents will be able to attend those ceremonies.) Also, our Week of Prayer has been rescheduled from September and will now be happening October 5-9. Outdoor Education (Grades 5-6) has been postponed until, hopefully, early spring.
Our teachers and principal will be visited by the our conference education superintendents next Tuesday for an evaluation. Please keep us in prayer that we will be relaxed and do our jobs well, as we typically do!
We miss seeing our online students in person! We are praying that our entire school family will stay healthy and safe. Blessings!

Announcements

Parent/Teacher Conferences
Parent-Teacher Conferences are coming up on Thursday, October 15. Please note that the academic award ceremony will be held in individual classrooms and certificates and rewards will be passed out there. (We are very sorry, but in keeping with policy regarding visitors during COVID, no parents will be able to attend those ceremonies.) Please note that school will be dismissing at noon that day, there will be no lunch served, and no aftercare.
Depending on the teacher, parent/teacher conferences may be conducted on either Zoom video or by phone, mostly scheduled for October 15 between 12:30-5:30 pm. Some teachers may choose to schedule outside of those hours as well. If you have not already scheduled your time, please contact your student’s teacher(s) directly, or there is a sign-up sheet on the office window.
Extra Masks Please!
Please make sure your student has an extra mask or two in their backpack or locker, so that if a string breaks or a mask gets left in the car, they have a spare. Ms. Gail is handing out a lot of masks!

Everyone should have received their school picture proofs by now. If you would like to order, orders are due in the office by October 16. If your student missed school picture day recently or you are unhappy with their results, there is redemption! Retake day is happening on Wednesday, November 11. Please mark your calendars, especially those parents of online students who were unable to bring their students  to the first Picture Day.  All graduates (K, 8th, Seniors) will have their graduation pictures taken that day as well.
