This Sunday afternoon we'll be offering Emmanuel's traditional Blessing of Pets, which we always hold on the Sunday nearest the feast of St. Francis. This is a fun, relaxed event that I look forward to, and in recent years we've had a larger than usual group. To reduce risk, Deacon Chris and I are offering different times when smaller groups of Emmanuel pet lovers can gather with their animals (leashed or in a carrier, please) in the parking lot for a blessing. Stuffed animal friends and photos of beloved pets are also welcome. We do ask you this year to RSVP to let us know which of the possible times you will attend; one previously announced slot is full, so don't delay in contacting us at https://emec.breezechms.com/form/pets
This Week's Highlights
SYNOD LIVESTREAM
This weekend is our Diocesan Synod. Every year all Episcopalians in the diocese are invited to the Mass which our clergy and lay delegates attend at the beginning of Synod, but this year it's being livestreamed! The stream will be available on the Facebook page of the Cathedral  on Friday evening at 5 p.m.

GUEST SERMON
This week our video sermon will include a brief message from our Presiding Bishop, reflecting on how we have borne fruit and answered God's call over the past months, while also pointing us forward to how we continue to answer the question "What Would Love Do?" Bishop Curry's video with an introduction from Mother Beth will be available on our YouTube channel and our Facebook page Sunday morning.

HYMNS AND HOPS
Martin Luther once asked, “Why should the Devil have all the good tunes?” As proof that the Hymnal 1982 has all the best tunes, on Sunday October 18th at 4 p.m. we’ll host our second all-parish “Hymns and Hops” on Zoom with singing, trivia, and a few words from Mother Beth.  Bring your own beer, tea, or effervescent French-named water beverage of choice for a fun afternoon of fellowship. We’ll be muted, so you don't need to be a strong singer to enjoy the fun.

RECTORY WINDOWS
If you are coming to Masses or are otherwise near the building, you may note that reproduction replacement windows are in process of being installed at the rectory. Since the old windows were not salvageable, we are grateful to have been able to order new windows that will be both more usable and more environmentally responsible, while preserving the English look that our architect Ralph Adams Cram designed. Come by and take a look!

Taking Faith Home

Parish Calendar

IN A PASTORAL EMERGENCY - If you or a family member are in the hospital or have another personal emergency, please let the clergy know; they are ready to visit or assist. If the office is closed, please leave the information (including which hospital) in one of their personal office voicemail boxes or on a home phone. Emmanuel can also arrange to have meals provided; just ask!

SCHEDULE INFORMATION -
Emmanuel's ministry staff seek health for both themselves and the parish culture by taking regular time off. MOTHER BETH is off on Fridays. DEACON CHRIS is currently working from home. MARISA CROFTS is currently on maternity leave. Voice mail may be left in their boxes at any time.

OFFICE HOURS-
The church office is open limited hours weekday mornings for work that cannot be done remotely. At other times our staff will continue fulfilling all their ministry responsibilities from home, including actively responding to email and phone messages.
