A small 'COVID-Normal' apologetic ramble

We are so different to the rest of the world, and feel blessed with our amazing health workers who keep us safe; and COVID plotted and apparently contained. But we really can't let our guard down, nor return to what we fancy as our 'pre-COVID life' until a vaccine comes along for the ride.

With dolly steps we keep testing the waters (to mix our metaphors).  And so, for the moment, it seems we have been able to bring back most of our face to face ukestras.

This continuing COVID-Safe evolution means that our website keeps trying to keep up with changes, but it doesn't always succeed. Thanks for your patience with our occasional errors.

1. This weekend there are no ukestras!

Quite a few of us are camping up at Wollombi, enjoying the great outdoors and making some music around a fire.

2. Back in the Real World!

John, Mark and JaneSundays

The latest ukestra to return (albeit with a couple of imminent hiccoughs) is Sunday mornings. Congratulations to John who managed the daylight savings transition almost without a mis-step.

As mentioned before, it is not on this Sunday (18 October), and the following Sunday (25 October) will be subject to the weather as the Club is having its AGM indoors.

John and Lorraine at LakeMac UkestraLakeMacUkestra

The Masked John and the Lakemaccers (masked) are now well settled in together and have enticed some new Lakemaccers as well.  Mark is taking next Tuesday, 20 October (John is away).

Monday Nights have returned to Merewether

Jane's Monday nights returned a couple of weeks ago to the Merewether Bowling Club. These sessions are also beamed to the world, with a dedicated ZLU catering for those who feel like staying home, or not moving to Newcastle. To access, go through www.zookestra.com, and just click on the session that you wish to attend.

3. Next Beginners Ukulele Workshop

The numbers at the Beginners Ukulele Workshops have been small but passionate. It's such an easy step to be included in our local community, and to learn skills quickly. The next Beginners Ukulele Workshop is

Sunday Arvo, 1 November 1-2:50 pm

4. Special Courses

Our Special Online Courses continue to reap lots of praise from participants, even from our highly experienced and skilled compatriots who teach in other parts of Australia. The Song-writing course in particular was utterly fascinating and thrilling for the talents, emotions and curiosity that it uncovered. We feel very privileged that people have seen fit to join us for some very special moments. We even had one of the songwriters perform a song at Saturday morning! Well done Judy!!

If you are interested in these sessions, go to www.zookestra.com and click on the Special Courses tab.

Why Ukulele?

Because you can meet eligible, well dressed, and rather musical birdies.
