NEWS

Welcome to our October 2020 Newsletter

Our service is changing…
We are continuing our telephone support service, but if you need to see someone face to face you can now book an appointment with a support worker.  It could be for practical help - like filling in a form, for crisis support, or for a much needed chat.  Each appointment lasts an hour.  If you need internet access, you can also make a booking to use one of our computers for an appointment, a meeting, to check your emails or even for for some online shopping. Our citizens advice sessions, and other online activities are all continuing as before.

For more information, or to book an appointment go online at smhf.org.uk/appointments or call 020 8770 0172. We hope to offer more face to face activities in the near future, depending on the changing situation – so keep watching this space.

How you can help plan a Crisis Café for Sutton

A Crisis Café is a safe, welcoming space where people can go for support outside of normal working hours, instead of using A&E or other urgent services. It is for people who are feeling emotionally distressed or experiencing severe mental health difficulties.

Sutton Mental Health Foundation is working with NHS Sutton commissioners to look at setting up a pilot Crisis Café in Sutton.

It is really important that we hear the views of people who have used mental health services and those who might use this service. We would like to find out what people would find useful and what might help them in a mental health crisis.

Please take 5 minutes to fill in the online survey at smhf.org.uk/crisiscafe or email your comments to crisiscafe@smhf.org.uk.
For help accessing the survey offline, please call 0208 770 0172 and leave your contact details and someone will get back to you.

EVENTS

Sutton Mental Health Foundation will be at the next Wallington Farmers' Market, on Saturday October 10th, 9-1 outside the Old Town Hall in Woodcote Road. It's World Mental Health Day  - come and see us, and find out how we are supporting people during Covid; tell us what you think a Crisis Cafe in Sutton should offer people in crisis - plus we are raising money with Mayor of Sutton - you could win a delicious hamper of local food!
