We hope some of you have been able to visit us during this difficult time – we know that experiencing the beauty of our landscapes and enjoying some of our museums and heritage properties help keep us well and connected.

We hope that you continue to get out and about but we hear from you that even when you can’t you are enjoying the stories we are telling.

With that in mind we would like to share a couple of very special opportunities.

One for everyone to join in if they wish no matter where you live, and one that the artists amongst you might like to consider.

Simon Armitage from Dove Cottage

Thursday, 1 October, 5.00-6.00pm

Tune in on National Poetry Day for this one-of-a-kind, online only performance. Experience the newly restored Dove Cottage, take in the beauty of Grasmere and its spectacular surroundings, and hear the poetry of two Poet Laureates as you’ve never heard it before. This live online broadcast will not be available after the event, so make sure that you book your ticket! This event is captioned.

The Digital Forest

Grizedale Forest & Signal Film and Media with Art Fund support have launched an exciting opportunity for a digital artist to create an online participatory artwork inspired by Grizedale Forest.

The Digital Forest commission will capture a truly unique moment in time as visitors slowly return to enjoy the forest trails and vast sense of space at Grizedale. The commissioned artist will work alongside a local community group to develop artwork beyond the physical forest so that more people can enjoy art inspired by the forest.

Closing date: Monday 5th October 2020
Fee: £3000 plus £1000 allowance for production, travel and accommodation

Brief and Application: signalfilmandmedia.com/thedigitalforest
