The Chinese Flagship program at the University of Minnesota trains the nation’s most qualified undergraduate students from diverse disciplines to achieve superior-level Mandarin Chinese proficiency and promotes their success as global professionals.
Program students receive up to $30,000 in Flagship and Provost scholarships for study and internship abroad as well as many personalized academic opportunities.
Graduates may achieve federally certified superior-level Chinese proficiency, and the cultural and linguistic knowledge necessary to take their place among the next generation of global professionals.
Who can be a UMN Chinese Flagship Student?
CFS can be completed along with any major and any college degree at UMN. The program is integrated with the Asian and Middle Eastern Studies-Chinese major and the Certificate in Advanced Chinese awarded by the Department of Asian and Middle Eastern Studies.
Our current students pursue majors as varied as global studies, political science, history, education, finance, business, chemistry, computer science, and biology.
