Sitting for a Portrait

by Doug Bing, Washington Conference president

Ellen White in Desire of Ages penned these beautiful words: "Christ is sitting for His portrait in every disciple."

Have you ever sat for a portrait? Most of us have sat down for family photos. But sitting for a portrait where someone is looking at you and taking the time to draw or paint your picture is an entirely different thing.

The Bible is clear that Jesus wants us to be a reflection of Him.
That only comes by us sitting with Him and learning each and everything Jesus would want us to do.

Support Fire Relief Efforts

Adventist Disaster Response volunteers are grateful for your donations to the Disaster Response Special Offering. In the next few days, three trained and certified emotional and spiritual support volunteers from western Washington will be deployed to aid in Oregon.

Donations received will enable Adventist Community Services Disaster Response volunteers to take action in the wake of these devastating and disrupting fires. Financial gifts will provide immediate relief to survivors and assist with long-term recovery efforts. Those wishing to donate may do so online or at their local Adventist church. (In Adventist Giving, select "Disaster Response - Washington. For tithe envelopes, mark "Disaster Response Special Offering")

Thank you for giving to support the work of Adventist Disaster Response in immediate and long-term recovery efforts!

I Praise Jesus Because...

Gather the family around for this year's Alter the Altar family worship project from October 1-31! For the entire month of October, let’s zip our lips against negativity and complaining, and open our mouths wide in praise of our great God.

When you gather the family at the altar for worship, each family member will share a praise starting with the words, “I praise Jesus because…” Additionally, all petitions will be presented in the form of a praise to God. Use your imagination and each day you will be adding another “stone” in your Altar of Praise.
