Winnetka's Connection To Village Businesses and Events
Cook County Offers $10,000 Small Business Assistance GrantsCook County President Toni Preckwinkle gives a press conference.
Applications are open now for Cook County's "COVID-19 Recovery: Small Business Assistance" grants that provide support for suburban Cook County small businesses impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. To be eligible, businesses must: have 20 or fewer employees, demonstrate a sales reduction by more than 20% in any month from March-July vs. February 2020, and have not received federal funding in the past including EIDL or PPP loans. 

Grant funds can be used for:
  • Payroll
  • Operating expenses
  • Lease or rent payments
  • Modifications that are required for complying with reopening guidelines
  • Inventory acquisition vital to the business
Funds cannot be used for capital improvements, taxes, or personal expenses.

Applications are open now. Applications close on Tuesday, October 6, 2020 at 5 PM (subject to change). For additional eligibility and grant rules, visit the Cook County COVID-19 Recovery: Small Business Assistance website. 
Independently-Owned Retailers Encouraged to Apply for State's Business Interruption Grants
The Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity is encouraging independently-owned retailers who were negatively impacted by COVID-19 to apply for the Business Interruption Grants (BIG), which are open now. BIG funding may be used for: 
  • Working capital expenses
  • Payroll costs
  • Rent
  • Utilities
  • Other operational costs

Art Showcases and In-Store Events Planned for "Art Attack!" in Hubbard WoodsArt Attack! is an art and retail event in Winnetka, IL
Hubbard Woods businesses and studios will host "Art Showcases" that display art work in store windows and inside of some stores as part of Art Attack!, taking place from Thursday, October 1 through Saturday, October 10.  An artist “Meet and Greet” will take place on Friday, October 2, from 3 PM - 6:30 PM. Art Attack! is hosted by the Hubbard Woods Design and Dine District in partnership with the North Shore Art League and sponsored by the Village of Winnetka. Are You Eligible for the Winnetka Sales Tax Rebate Program?
The Village is providing immediate funds to businesses that have suffered economic loss from the pandemic, supplying them with immediate cash for short-term financial operational needs, including payroll, payment to suppliers, payment to service providers, or payment of rent and utilities.

Visit the Village's website to learn more, review the requirements of the rebate program, and download an application. Please email the Village with additional questions or comments. The deadline to apply is December 1, 2020.
