2020 FACULTY SHOWCASE

OCT. 22, 2020: 3-6PM

Navigating the New Teaching Landscape

Learning Innovation and Faculty Engagement invites the academic community to register for the 2020 Faculty Showcase. This year’s online event will recognize faculty members’ efforts to adapt to the new teaching landscape, including topics on creating innovative and engaging hybrid and online courses, addressing racial and social justice issues in the classroom and encouraging dialogue and discussion among students. Exploring Alternatives to High-Stakes Proctored Tests

This one-hour session will highlight alternatives to high-stakes proctored tests. We will include an introduction to designing authentic assessments that will fit within the context of your course, and demonstrate evidence of student learning. Other topics of discussion will include strategies for open-book examinations and ensuring academic integrity. Register to attend by selecting the dates below:

Sustainability in the Curriculum

Hosted by GreenU, faculty are invited to an online panel discussion featuring colleagues from business, ecosystem science and policy, educational and psychological studies, and international studies. Speakers will share their experiences in incorporating global sustainability challenges into the curriculum. Register to attend.

Working with Data Workshop Series

This fall, Data Services at the University of Miami Libraries are hosting a series of online seminars and workshops for University faculty, staff and students. Topics include Research Data Management, SPSS, Data Visualization (R, Tableau), NVivo, ArcGIS Online and Python for Data Analysis. Register for upcoming dates.

CREATE Grants Program: Call for Proposals

Faculty members are invited to submit proposals to the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation CREATE Grants Program. Funding for this special fall 2020 grant cycle will prioritize those museum and library projects that advance diversity, equity, and inclusion and address the ways in which the projects promote anti-racism and social justice.
