Veganic Harvest Festival Competition

We would love to taste your pies, see your pictures and hear your stories.
Have you been foraging, farming or gardening or have you been more creative baking pies and making things from nature’s bounty of corn, willow, bark, sticks or leaves?
All the fun you have been having in the outdoors could win you a prize!
We have three books to give away: Garden of Vegan by Cleve West, The Vegan Cook and Gardener by Piers Warren and Growing Green by Jenny Hall and Iain Tolhurst.

Search for the Silver Spore

The founders of Dutch startup Those Vegan Cowboys have launched a search for a starter culture that will turn grass into real milk proteins. Jaap Korteweg and Niko Koffeman, who previously founded The Vegetarian Butcher, are offering a €2.5M reward to anyone who finds a suitable fungal strain.

Animal farming in the EU produces more greenhouse gas emissions than all cars and vans, according to report

Marco Contiero, agriculture policy director for Greenpeace, told The Guardian:

“Science is clear, the numbers as well: we can’t avoid the worst of climate breakdown if politicians keep defending the industrial production of meat and dairy.”

Following this report, Greenpeace is calling for an end to public subsidies for ‘industrial-scale’ animal farming under the EU’s common agriculture policy.
