Hi All!

We hope you've been keeping well. A few weeks ago we put out a call for all UK and EU based T-BEN members to participate in an exclusive opportunity with the Centre for Macroeconomics (CfM) on one of their monthly surveys. These surveys seek to inform the public about the views held by prominent economists based in Europe on important macroeconomic and public policy questions.

CfM is looking to put together a panel made up of only UK & Europe based TBEN members, to respond and comment upon a series of economic questions on an important policy topic. The results would be published on the Centre for Macroeconomics website, where previous CfM surveys have received press attention.

If you'd be interested in participating please see below for more details!
THE SURVEY

We're really excited to share that the topic of this survey will be:
The Impacts of the Covid-19 pandemic on racial inequality in the UK & Europe

The three survey questions will broadly cover the following:

Question 1:
Absent policy intervention, which dimension of racial inequality will Covid-19 most exacerbate in the UK in the short run?  (e.g. health, labour market, crime)

Question 2:
Absent policy intervention, which dimension of racial inequality will Covid-19 most exacerbate in the UK in the long run?

Question 3:
Which new data should be collected to better inform the public debate on racial disparities in the UK?

WHY THIS TOPIC?
This topic was chosen alongside other TBEN members due to its timeliness, and the scope it gives for TBEN members to comment on economic issues specifically amongst the UK's black community. This is just the first of many opportunities for surveys with the CfM, and we're welcome to ideas for additional survey topics that can be used for future collaborations.

There is some important information below about the survey process. Please read through and make a note of the key timelines.

NEXT STEPS
1. T-BEN member participants will share their expert opinion via the survey link. All participants names and responses will be published in this format to be quoted in the main article, but we will accept anonymous responses.

For this reason, it's important to emphasize that you
do not share the link with people outside the network so we can ensure that all anonymous answers are really from TBEN members.

2. Following the survey, the CfM has a set process with VoxEU and The Guardian to publish articles that summarise the survey responses, which will be co-authored by Felicia and one other TBEN member.

If you'd like to have your expert economic opinion published on a pressing policy topic this is the opportunity for you!
