<<First Name>>
You can only occupy one world at a time. As Americans, we have this allusion that we can live in and manage multiple worlds all at once. But with COVID, many of us have faced the challenge of trying to balance it all when suddenly our work world, family life, and children’s education collided, fighting for the same space. Even before COVID, we have struggled to live a balanced life, and what happens when things are out of balance? Eventually something breaks down. No matter how hard we try to do it all, we can only occupy one space at a time. Only God has the ability to be omnipresent.
While we may not have the ability to live in multiple “worlds” at the same time, we can choose the kind of world we will live in. Will we speed our lives running around trying to manage it all, or will we choose to intentionally step into the world we are in? Part of being together is choosing to focus on the ones we love the most, and choosing to engage in the worlds that bring us a sense of belonging and community.
Our American culture is counter to true community. We cram our schedules full of different activities and organizations we want to be a part of. We run from one event to another. But what we sacrifice is the opportunity to experience genuine community. Maybe one of the blessings of this season we are in is that it has forced us to slow down and to re-evaluate what matters most to us. When this is all over, what kind of world will we choose? Will we come away from this unchanged, diving right back into the chaos we were in? Or will we find a sense of balance, helping us experience community and meaningful relationship with the ones who matter most. Join us this week as we tackle this issue and discover 5 key characteristics that lead to healthy community and a sense of belonging.
