KENT AC NEWS BULLETIN

27th September, 2020
 NEWS
EA update in response to the Government's new restrictions:
England Athletics released a statement in response to the new restrictions announced by the Government on Monday of this week. The statement confirmed that the new restrictions will have no impact on athletic club or group activity and all activity will be able to continue as before.
 RESULTS
Club Champs:
Thanks to everyone who took part in the most recent 800m & 100m Club Championships last Wednesday - full results will be released tomorrow by organiser supremo Ben Cook, but congratulations to our 800m club champs Joseph Yee and Victoria Stepanova.

Many thanks to all the volunteers across the three weeks for making the evenings possible!

Folkestone Half Marathon:
On a wet and windy morning on the Kent coast, many braved the conditions with great success. With the event taking place under COVID-secure conditions, small waves of runners started from 8am on an out-and-back seaside circuit, including an unwelcome steep cliff-top climb at about 12 miles in.
Despite the testing weather, the event was worth the early start with Kent runners taking the individual wins for men & women, with six men featuring in the top ten, making the event feel more like a Club Champs race. Our winners were Anthony Johnson and Georgina Wiley, both slightly outside their PBs but in far from favourable weather!

Anthony Johnson - 68:24 - 1st
Dave Morgan - 72:16
Ben Hope - 72:26
Dan Pettitt - 72:32 PB
George Russell - 72:32 PB
Ben Cook - 72:53
Rob Laing - 73:35
Barny Day - 73:53
Tomas Sloan - 77:12
Kieran Page - 81:59 PB
Jamie Stinson - 83:27
Georgina Wiley - 84:17 - 1st
David Venn - 86:51
Adrian Dracup - 91:06
Jeegna Patel-Jones - 1:51:19
Nicholas Walne - 1:54:43

MK5000 PB Special:
The second edition since races restarted saw two Kent runners make the journey up to Milton Keynes. In a good quality elite field Owen Hind ran 14:21 for 4th place in a race won by Australian International Ryan Gregson. Joe Hartley confirmed his good form with a slender road 5k PB of 15:35.

Wimbledon Track Open:
Jim Allchin & Neil Phillips continued their interest in 3000m racing with another race last Wednesday. Jim carried on his remarkable consistency, posting an 8:34 whilst Neil managed a solid 9:47.
