In 2015, Chad and Megan contacted ICM in order to start their adoption home study process. They were very ready to grow their family and had signed up with a large, national adoption agency where they hoped to be matched with a child. In May 2016, Chad and Megan received the news they had been waiting for: they had been chosen by an expectant birth mother in Michigan to adopt her baby boy who was due to be born in a couple of months! In July 2016, baby Wybrant was born and was placed with Chad and Megan. They were overjoyed to welcome their new son into their family. Over the next 5 months, an ICM adoption worker visited the family in their home to provide post placement monitoring and support. Chad and Megan shared that they always wanted two children and that adopting for a second time was always in the back of their minds after they adopted Wybrant. In early 2018, Chad and Megan contacted ICM again to begin the process of updating their home study for a second adoption. Whenever they talked with Wybrant about him eventually having a sibling, he would say that he wanted a baby sister. In mid-December 2019, Chad and Megan received an early Christmas blessing when they were told that an expectant birth mother in Ohio had chosen them to adopt her baby girl and that she was being prepped for a C-section at that very moment. After dropping everything and making their way to Ohio, they met their new daughter, Hattie, just a few hours later. After returning to Illinois and introducing Wybrant to his new baby sister, Chad and Megan began the transition of becoming a family of four. ICM provided post placement monitoring over the course of several months with the last few “visits” taking place through video calls due to COVID-19. Wybrant is now 4 years old, and Hattie will soon be turning 1. Chad and Megan shared that Wybrant is keeping busy taking a gymnastics class and playing soccer. Hattie wants to walk so badly so that she can keep up with her big brother! Chad and Megan have shared how much they love watching Wybrant and Hattie interacting with one another and growing in their relationship as siblings. ICM has so enjoyed the privilege of watching this wonderful family grow and getting to be a part of their adoption journey over the past five years. We wish Chad, Megan, Wybrant, and Hattie all of God’s blessings in the years to come!
