Ramzy Baroud is a US-Palestinian journalist, media consultant, author, internationally-syndicated columnist, Editor of Palestine Chronicle (1999-present), former Managing Editor of London-based Middle East Eye, former Editor-in-Chief of The Brunei Times, former Deputy Managing Editor of Al Jazeera online.

"The relationship between Jinan and Abdel Karim began in 1999, when they were both students at al-Quds Open University in the Palestinian city of Salfit. They announced their engagement on 17 June 2002, in the midst of the Second Intifada. At that point, Abdel Karim had been wanted by the Israeli army for 20 months before he was finally detained."
“I informed Jinan from the outset that I was a target - I may be martyred, or I may become disabled by army fire, or I may be arrested for a long period of time,” Abdel Karim told MEE. “Her response was that she would remain by my side in all these cases - she committed to her promise until this day.”

Israel refuses to release Palestinian 'on verge of death' after almost 80 day hunger strike (The Independent)
"Israel has refused to release a Palestinian detainee feared to be “on the verge of death” after being on hunger strike for nearly 80 days."
"Maher al-Akhras, 49, from Silah al-Dahr village in the West Bank, has been held in administrative detention since his arrest in July - a policy used by Israel to detain suspected fighters without charge. Israeli authorities accuse him of belonging to Islamic Jihad, a claim Mr Akhras denies."
Dr Ahmad Tibi, a member of Israel’s parliament (MK) who was at the hearing, said he was “very worried” about Mr Akhras’s condition, having visited him on several occasions. “We are totally against administrative detention. They haven’t presented any evidence against him,” he told The Independent. “This is anti-democratic and poses a real danger.”

"The Palestinian prime minister said Tuesday it will be disastrous for his people and the world at large if President Donald Trump wins re-election next month. Prime Minister Mohammad Shtayyeh said the last four years of the Trump administration have greatly harmed the Palestinians."
"'If we are going to live another four years with President Trump, God help us, God help you and God help the whole world,” Shtayyeh said Tuesday, repeating comments he made a day earlier in a remote meeting with European lawmakers. The comments were earlier posted on his Facebook page."
"The Palestinians have traditionally refrained from taking an explicit public position in American presidential elections. Shtayyeh’s comments reflected the sense of desperation on the Palestinian side after a series of U.S. moves that have left them weakened and isolated."

Hamada Jaber writes "Most Palestinians saw the PLO as their sole representative in the past. Polls from the organization where I work, the Palestinian Center for Policy and Survey Research (PCPSR), showed 69% held this view in 2006 and in 2019 it dropped to only 54%."
"In the latest PCPSR poll, around 58% of Palestinians oppose the two-state solution and only 39% support it. Another 37% said they prefer a one-state solution over a two-state solution. (Even so, not a single Palestinian political party has adopted one-state solution in their platform)."
"This loss of public trust coincides with the Palestinian Authority struggling to survive and faces the possibility of a collapse, where the consequences include security chaos– internal or against Israel– and armed conflict."
