This year's GGBC Biodiversity Lecture will feature IPBESThe Intergovernmental Science-Policy Platform on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services.

IPBES is this year's winner of the WIN WIN Gothenburg Sustainab
ility Award. They will be awarded 1 million SEK for engaging and uniting the world’s nations around the issue of biodiversity, as well as playing a crucial role in setting the groundwork for the change we need to address to solve this crisis in the coming years.

At our annual lecture, Anne Larigauderie, Executive Secretary at IPBES and Sandra Diaz, Co-chair of the IPBES Global Assessment will speak about IPBES, how humans are driving biodiversity loss and what we can do to shift current trends. The lecture will be live-streamed via the Facebook event page.

How can interdisciplinary work on biodiversity be improved in Gothenburg. What are the challenges, hurdles and promising examples? The progress of interdisciplinary approaches, concepts and modes of working like IPBES could serve as a role model and stimulate further development of fruitful and innovative interaction in biodiversity research.

This seminar is conducted completely digitally but will be broadcasted from Västra Handelskammaren where you can also participate live.

The GGBC Annual Biodiversity Lecture is featured in the official program of the sustainability festival Hållbarhetsfestivalen Västra Götaland, arranged by the City of Gothenburg and Studiefrämjandet.
