How bots are being put to work

In 2019, The United Nations International Computing Centre (UNICC) opened its Robotic Process Automation Centre of Excellence (CoE). WFP was one of the first United Nations agencies to explore its capabilities. With Robotic Process Automation (RPA) solutions, routine manual processes are transformed into automated software programs. This increases organizational efficiency and frees experts to focus instead on innovating, collaborating and motivating each other to achieve the Global Goals.

Greening the United Nations system

Sustainable United Nations (SUN) in Geneva is coordinating “going green” work across the system. Various actions have been implemented at the Palais des Nations from installing solar panels in 2014 to implementing a goal of zero food waste and zero single-use plastics. The Permanent Mission of Switzerland has just launched the 2050Today initiative aiming at reducing CO2 emissions at the local level in Geneva. Various international organization buildings are connected to the Geneva-Lac-Nations (GLN) remote cooling network. This system allows their premises to be cooled and heated with deep water from Lake Geneva. From 2022, the GeniLac © project will cool and heat a larger number of buildings, from the city centre to the airport.
