President's Message

Dear <<First Name>>

This week's update will cover the following items:

Norman Griffiths Oval Synthetic Pitch Update

A terrific 10-0 result to end a very challenging 2020. A unanimous vote by the Ku-Ring-Gai council on Tuesday night, 20 October 2020, saw the approval for the build of a synthetic pitch at Norman Griffiths Oval.

This was more than 10-years in the making, with numerous hurdles to jump and hoops to go through, however, all credit and kudos to the key parties involved that continually led the club through this long, and now successful journey that will see a magnificent addition to the club and the West Pymble community.

Thank you to all the club members, over many years, for the support of this project - this was extremely helpful in having the Councillors approve the proposal.

The council meeting is available on the Council's website - refer 48.36 minutes for the start of the discussion. Indeed worth a view.

2020 AGM + Coaches & Managers Meeting

The Annual General Meeting occurred on Monday night 19 October 2020. It was a well attended event in person at the Bicentennial Club - within social distancing guidelines - and via Zoom. Thank you to everyone who attended. Some photos from the night are on our Facebook page.

It was an excellent night and provided an overview of the Club's Annual Report; the voting for the 2020-2021 Committee members and other key club support roles; the presentation of the actual awards for the 2020 Club Award winners; and the Coaches & Managers meeting.

Watch out for an email later this week, outlining further information regarding the meetings and the committee members.

Gifts were presented to the following people stepping down from club roles, for their wonderful contribution of their time, effort, and love to the club, over many years.

Sarah Plant 18 years with WPFC across too many roles to list
Ian Plant 18 years developing the WPFC across numerous roles including as President.
Eloise Plant
Three years as the club Registrar.
Louise Butler Five years as the Member Protection Information Officer.
Amanda Scali One year as the Grounds Administrator, with this role made particularly challenging from the Covid-19 restrictions on training sessions.

Three additional club awards were presented on this night, to three wonderful women. It is a testament to the significant and incredible role and contribution of all the women/females within the club, to make it as great as it is.

WPFC Trivia

Martin Laslett is the current club historian. He assumed this role in September 2019 to carry on the information documented by the clubs original historian, his father, Ross Laslett. Ross agreed - circa 1992-93 shortly after his retirement - to document the club's history to from its inception in 1957 to 1992, as a once-off piece of work.
