A Maine Green Amendment:
Virtual Presentation and Q&A
Tuesday, October 20 at 6:30pm ET
Please join Andy Burt and the MCAN Coalition in welcoming Founder of Green Amendments For The Generations, Maya van Rossum, for an uplifting hour exploring the Green Amendment Movement to secure the rights to pure water, clean air, a stable climate, and healthy environments for all the people of Maine, including future generations. Ms. van Rossum will discuss the national movement and how a Green Amendment would work in the context of Maine environmental issues. The evening will be facilitated by Andy Burt and will include time for Q&A.

Currently our laws are designed to regulate pollution instead of preventing it, and they do not protect Indigenous sacred areas, scenic and historical sites. A Green Amendment to the Maine Constitution could provide a firm environmental justice foundation to protect the sources of life for today’s and future generations.
Protect South Portland is participating, and welcome others to join us in the webinar, a great way to learn about this campaign!
As part of the webinar, the sponsors have asked PSP to do a short presentation about the work being done to address the oil tank emissions in South Portland. Maya van Rossum will speak to how, if we were to have a Green Amendment in our Maine Constitution, this issue might have been avoided. There will also be a discussion of issues around mining in Aroostok County.
