Goal: Sustained Well-Being
This past Monday, students enjoyed a day off while Faculty participated in two Professional Development Workshops focused on Coping with Challenges & Uncertainty and Cultivating Resilience.
Now it's your turn! Are you feeling tired, anxious, lonely, overwhelmed, depressed or just struggling with things? You are not alone!
Join St. Mary's Catholic Church Youth Minister, Chris Jenkins, and Special Guest, Karen Rice, LCSW, on Wednesday, October 21 at 7:00pm for a FREE live-streamed event about supporting and sustaining mental health and well-being during these uncertain and challenging times. A link to this online event will be posted on the Church's homepage prior to the event.

“Civilize It: Dignity Beyond the Debate” is built on the idea that every person, even those with whom we disagree, is a child of God and possesses inherent dignity.
You can find resources, including this prayer for peace and civility, in English and Spanish by visiting wearesaltandlight.org or civilizeit.org.

The Saint Mary’s PTO will host a Drive Thru Trunk or Treat on Thursday, October 29th, from 5:30-7:00 pm. Please use this link to sign up to decorate a trunk, volunteer your time and/or donate candy.
PTO will put together treat bags to be handed out at the end, in exchange for a canned good for the Church's food pantry. (If you forget the canned goods, no worries!) Individual trunks will NOT be passing out candy. Let’s have some fun! Any questions about this event, please contact Kate Faraci.

Next week, students will elect new SCA officers for the current school year. Wondering how our SCA created positive change last school year?
Look no further! We just received an impact report from Sister Paula Healy (great aunt to current SMCS students) of Franciscan Missionary Sisters for Africa in Lusaka, Zambia.
Sister Healy reported using funds allocated by Saint Mary’s Catholic School SCA to pay school fees for 72 children who attend various schools:
- 30 children in St. Francis & Clare Secondary school
- 11 children in St. Paul’s Primary school
- 21 children in St. Paul’s Secondary school
- 8 children from various other local secondary schools
- 1 girl in college who is projected to complete her Teaching course in December. The sisters hope she will then be able to help her younger siblings complete their education as well.
Out of the 72 students paid for, 19 are double orphans (looked after by grandparents or other family members), 24 are single orphans and 28 children have both parents (most of whom are currently without jobs).
For more information on Saint Mary’s Catholic School SCA, please contact Ms. Spring Lavallee, MLS.
