IMPORTANT DATES

Comprehensive Exam Review this Saturday 10/17
Dr. Roman will hold a Comprehensive Exam Review session this Saturday October 17th at 9 am.  The Zoom link is https://csusb.zoom.us/j/84001197876. ALL students are welcome to attend- regardless of whether you are taking the exam this semester. Students who intend to take the exam this year should form study groups with each other.  


Vote!
The deadline to register (in California) is next Monday October 19. This impacts all of us!  If you need to register to vote or check your status- do it HERE.  Encourage your family and friends to vote.  If you live in San Bernardino County you can currently vote in person at the Registrar of Voters.  I know because I voted yesterday!!!!    Here is a Voters Guide that can help you from CalMatters, a nonpartisan, nonprofit journalism organization.

Spring Registration begins November 2
The MPA degree consists of 12 classes.  To target a two year graduation, MPA students should plan on taking summer classes.  We will schedule a full range of MPA classes including all core classes. Plan ahead! Consult the PA Schedule.

We will Be Calling You! Please Answer
Before registration, Marisol or Biany will give each MPA student a call to check in with you on your progress. They will be able to answer any of  your questions about registration. This will come from our office numbers -- either 909-537-5758 or 909-537-3972.   Please take this call and talk to us about how things are going.

Mandatory Title IX Sexual Assault Training
Most of you have completed the annual sexual assault training-- BUT if you have not-- then your registration for Spring will be blocked until you complete it.  Contact the Title IX office if you are unsure or have questions. 

No PA Winter Intercession Classes
Winter intercession runs over the holiday break from mid-December to mid-January. For this year PA will not be holding any classes.  This may change in future years.

MPA Professional Development Seminar PA 6985 Wednesday October 28

The next meeting of PA 6985 the Professional Development Seminar will be Wednesday 9/30 from 6-7pm via Zoom.  We will be joined by Dr. Pamela Medina who will tell you a bit about herself.  We will also look at the California propositions on the upcoming election ballot.  Bring your questions and feedback on the MPA program. CSUSB Designated National Center for Cybersecurity Education
CSUSB has just been recognized by the U.S. National Security Agency for its outstanding work in cybersecurity education.  The story is HERE and the video is HERE.   If you are interested in cybersecurity as an MPA Concentration check out our Concentration page, which has resources to help you know if this is the right concentration for you.

Palm Springs City Manager David Ready is Retiring
Palm Springs City Manager David Ready is retiring at the end of 2020  after about two decades of service. Dr. Ready has served under five mayoral administrations and with hundreds of staff members, and is credited with guiding the city's revitalization as a tourist destination while overseeing a $291 million budget.  We are delighted that Dr. Ready will continue to bring to the CSUSB MPA program his wide and deep experience as a public manager.

Foreign Affairs Graduate Fellowship
The Thomas R. Pickering Foreign Affairs Graduate Fellowship Program is now accepting applications for the 2021 Pickering Graduate Fellowship Program! The Pickering Graduate Fellowship is a U.S. Department of State program, administered by Howard University, that seeks to attract and prepare outstanding young people for careers as Foreign Service Officers in the U.S. Department of State. The Program will select 45 Fellows for the 2021 program. For more information see
