BENDING THE CURVE TOWARDS GENDER EQUALITY: THE POWER OF GENDER DATA

In a special Deliver for Good hosted conversation in advance
of this year’s virtual United Nations World Data Forum (19-21 October),
Alison Holder, Director of Equal Measures 2030 and Deliver for Good Advisory Group partner, speaks with Papa Seck, Chief Statistician of UN Women about why decision-makers need to get serious about capturing gender data that recognize intersecting inequalities.

At pre-pandemic pace, no country was on track to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by 2030, and we were still 100 years away from realizing gender equality. And the challenges that we’ve faced this year have created further setbacks.

Gender data that capture the many factors that shape people’s lives are foundational to ramping up progress on all SDGs, and to addressing the gendered impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Leaders and decision-makers must urgently work together to fill existing data and knowledge gaps; and collect, analyze, and use intersectional data to create the policies, programs, and solutions needed to tackle inequity and build more inclusive, resilient societies.

Join us in advocating for the evidence base we need to create a more gender-equal tomorrow ahead of the UN World Data Forum and beyond by sharing this month's Q&A, as well as the graphics and messages below.
