The SECOND All-Iowa-Presbyterians Work Day
submitted by the Disaster Recovery Task Force
As part of our ongoing recovery efforts in the wake of the Derecho storm, the Presbytery of East Iowa is coordinating a second mission experience for Presbyterian volunteers from the entire state to gather and work alongside one another as we try to make a difference. The event will take place on Saturday, October 17, 2020 at 9:00am (Rain date October 24, 2020) We will once again gather at Prairiewoods Franciscan Spirituality Center in Hiawatha, just outside Cedar Rapids city limits at 120 E Boyson Rd, Hiawatha, IA 52233.
This event will be limited to 50 people. Our hope is to sort people based on skill sets prior to the event. Tasks needs include: Chainsaw, Run brush, Rake/trim bushes, Chip trails, Mow and trim lawns. So we may best pre-assign volunteers to work crews according to their skill and interest, we ask that each volunteer complete their own registration form. Or, alternatively, that team leader complete individual registrations for each member of the team, recognizing that we are asking for both skill level and work interest.
The registration deadline is Thursday, October 15 at 5:00pm.
All volunteers need to complete a release form. Please complete the form prior to the event. The release form will be emailed to all registrants or can be downloaded here. You may submit forms in person on the day of the event or email them to julia@peia.org
All minors under eighteen-years-old will need to be accompanied and supervised by a parent or legal guardian.
Please note that social distancing protocols will be in place and all are expected to wear masks when gathered with others.
