Congratulations!
2020 Social Enterprise Grants Announced!
The successful grant recipients have been announced on the DESBT website. Congratulations to the successful social enterprises!
QSEC would like to discover what the impact of these grants have been on your business and some feedback to the government about the process and also the benefits the funds have created. We are advocating strongly for an additional round and the information will be so critical for us to understand how grants help not just your immediate needs but the longer term impact on your business and the communities you serve. We will be reaching out to all recipients in coming weeks to ask for some feedback.
We would like to say a huge thanks to the Queensland Government for the support in helping us to advance the sector.

Human-centred design (HCD) is an approach to problem-solving that puts the people we are designing for at the heart of the process.
The human-centred design process begins with empathy for the people we are designing for. The process:
- generates a wide variety of ideas
- translates some of these ideas into prototypes
- shares these prototypes with the people we’re designing for to gather feedback
- builds the chosen solution direction for release
There is a free HCD Playbook to download too!

A new deal launches to reshape an economy that’s fair for all.
An unlikely alliance of community, union, and academic groups are pitching a shake-up of the economy, challenging the government to look beyond big spending.
Those behind the economic plan, detailed in a report published on Monday ahead of next week’s federal budget, suggest while stimulus spending is important, not enough thought has been put into how to address critical issues the country is currently facing................

Telling our stories to a National audience
Digital Storytellers piloted weekly version of Enterprising Stories in Australia in the lead up to the 2020 Social Enterprise World Forum (Digital). ASENA and QSEC supported the episodes through provision of stories, sharing enterprising discoveries and was involved in national case studies. The show discovered a core audience of social enterprise ecosystem builders, and provided a key touchpoint to stay connected with the latest news in the social enterprise sector. It also amplified the social enterprises who are stepping up to meet humanity’s challenges both locally and globally. Digital Storytellers is now calling for support through recurring crowdfunding to help understand the audience more deeply, and give financial means to sustain the impact generated by doing monthly shows over the course of a whole year.
