We are now less than 3 months away from our provisional departure date to move to Central America with Engineering Ministries International. With EMI Nicaragua we will be working with many inspiring local charities in some of the poorest communities in Latin America. We will be assisting them as they develop their sites and facilities so that they might thrive to the benefit of as many people as possible. It's exciting stuff!
Important updates since we last wrote:
We have completed a thorough risk assessment process with the EMI UK and EMI Nicaragua directors. Provisionally we have been given the green light to proceed whilst we continue to closely monitor the Covid-19 situation in Central America.
We are preparing to carry out our security training in a few weeks' time.
We have now received permission from our mortgage lender to sublet our property whilst we're away. This has cleared a major hurdle for us as the permissions process had been made complicated by the cladding issues that are affecting many new build properties like ours around the country at the moment. We can now proceed with trying to find some good tenants to let to- let us know if you know of any!

Funding update
Our October update video (linked in the image above) includes a presentation on how much we need to raise and where we have got to so far. A summary is as follows:
We need to raise monthly standing orders and pledges to cover about £4000/month of ongoing living costs.
Separately, we need to raise £37,500 for a one off mobilisation fund.
We have currently raised about 40% of both these funds.
We are targeting to raise 60% by the end of October.
We need to raise 80% by the end of November/early December before EMI will permit us to book our flights to depart in January.
We have been humbled and incredibly blessed by the tremendous generosity and support of our local church and many friends and family. Support raising is not easy and is not something we're used to but we have been blown away by the kindness of so many people; we're extremely grateful.
