Required Filings to the Land Owner Transparency Registry Begin November 30, 2020

Customers are advised that beginning November 30, 2020, the Land Owner Transparency Act (LOTA) requires that any time an application is made to register an interest in land in BC’s land title register, a transparency declaration must be filed to the LOTA Administrator by each transferee. A transferee that is a reporting body must also complete and file a transparency report.

The Registrar of Land Titles must refuse any application to register an interest in land if it is not accompanied by a transparency declaration for each transferee and, if appropriate, transparency report(s).
