Flight to Brazil

As many of you know, my mom was diagnosed with Alzheimers Disease several years ago. My parents have opted to remain in Brazil for ministry until they deem it necessary to return to the US. I'm grateful that my mom is able to stay in her own home surrounded by the people and culture she has known and loved for years. There is unfortunately a natural decline with Alzheimers. Becky and I have decided it is important for me to spend some quality time with my mom as soon as possible. I leave tomorrow, Friday, for two weeks. Please pray for safe travel to Brazil and that I can be an encouragement to my parents. Please also pray for Becky at home with the kids.

Ministry Developments

This summer I spoke with a young man who was seeking direction regarding where God would have him serve as a missionary with TEAM. Based on his interests (agricultural ministry & unreached people groups) I recommended he go to Chad, where I had conducted my creation care research. I sent him the report of my trip, and along with conversations with others and much prayer, God has led him to commit to serve in Chad long-term. I'm thrilled to see God using my trip in Dec./Jan. to help get more people to the mission field. It is because of your continued prayers and financial gifts that this ministry is possible. Thank you!

In our next update, I'll share some more about what God has been doing with creation care ministries at TEAM the last few months, and an exciting answer to prayer with another organization!

Family

We praise God that Becky is fully recovered from her hip replacement and is back to working some shifts at the hospital. As a frontline worker, some days are quite intense! We covet your prayers for her protection.

Before Becky's surgery, we were able to get away for a special kayak date. Our time was wonderful, and the location was beautiful. We saw osprey, had two rainstorms douse us, and even picked up a souvenir on our way back to the car as seen below!

I can only imagine how this tire ended up in the river, with the rim and all! I couldn't just let it stay there. Creation Care happens everywhere.

The kids have enjoyed running cross-country this fall with our homeschool co-op as a "safe" socially distant sport. Even though Lilianna isn't old enough to race, she loves going to practice with her brothers. We have been so thankful they have had this special time of fellowship and exercise.

Tonight we celebrated (early) Caleb's 13th Birthday. The actual day is Oct. 12th but I'll be in Brazil. We can't believe we have a teenager now!

We are grateful for all of you who pray for us and give financially so that we may continue serving in our unique contexts, here in the US and abroad. Thank you so much!
Please let us know how we may be praying for you also!

Ben, Becky, Caleb, Samuel, David, & Lilianna.
