2021 Annual Pledge/Mission Funding Drive

In this time of social distancing, the annual pledge drive is happening virtually. If you attended our virtual service on Sunday, October 4, you had the opportunity to hear four of your fellow church members speak eloquently about their relationship to UUCJ and their reasons for supporting this beloved church with their annual pledges. If you weren’t at church and  have access to Facebook, you can find these wonderful testimonials by opening the UUCJ page and clicking on the sermon post.  (The ‘sermon’ starts at about 37 minutes into the service.)

You have hopefully received your pledge packets in the mail by now. Please complete your pledge as soon as possible and return it to the church office. You can also pledge online on our website: uucj.org/covenant-renewal-2021/

Remember—your pledge funds the reasons for UUCJ’s existence in Jacksonville, and allows us to be a force for change in this community and the world!

This week's topic: Mike Aiken presents “The Presidential Election of 1876”

Do you ever run the tap water to get it hot and let all that good water run down the drain? Or maybe you run the cold tap a few seconds to get it fresh. How about keeping a large pitcher or pretty bucket handy to catch this water.  I use it for potted plants or other plants that need to be watered.  There’s lots of ways to use water that would otherwise go down the drain.
“The eyes experience less stress when they can look up on a wider horizon.” R.D. Chin, The Book of Awakening

Bring into view a situation that is causing you stress. While keeping that situation in view, inhale and open yourself to the things around you that are not stressful. While keeping both the stressful and the non-stressful in view, breathe slowly and realize that to narrow and to widen is part of being human.
