Winnetka's Connection To Village Businesses and Events
Welcome to Winnetka! New Business Spotlight: La Taquiza Winnetka, 566 Chestnut Street La Taquiza Winnetka is located at 566 Chestnut Street in Winnetka, IL.
Winnetka welcomed a Mexican restaurant to the Village when family-owned and operated La Taquiza Winnetka opened in the Laundry Mall last week. They offer over ten types of tacos, tortas, burritos and bowls to choose from including skirt steak, chipotle chicken, veggie, and grilled or breaded baja shrimp (a customer favorite). October is National Women's Small Business Month
The Village of Winnetka is celebrating National Women's Small Business Month!  Did you know nearly a third of businesses in Winnetka are owned and operated by women? You can support you favorite woman-owned businesses by shopping there, following them on social media, and telling friends about them! 

We are partnering with Maze Home to feature a different Winnetka businesswoman on social media and in E-Developments and highlight her incredible accomplishments. Check back for more stories on the Village's social media pages.
 
Featured Winnetka Woman-Owned Business: Stephanie Hochschild, The Book Stall, 811 Elm StreetStephanie Hochschild is the owner of The Book Stall at 811 Elm Street, Winnetka.
Stephanie Hochschild took the helm of the acclaimed 40-year-old bookshop in 2012 and has kept it one of the most popular independently-owned bookstores in the Chicago area.

“Someone once told me that The Book Stall was the reason they moved to Winnetka,” says Hochschild. Why? “We offer a unique browsing experience and excellent service.”

Winnetka Disburses $132,500 in Sales Tax Rebates 
The Village of Winnetka has disbursed $132,500 in Sales Tax Rebates to 30 local businesses since it began its program on September 1! Dozens more Winnetka businesses are still eligible for an immediate rebate of either $2,500, $5,000 or $10,000. Business owners are encouraged to visit the Village's website to learn more, review the requirements of the rebate program, and download an application. The deadline to apply is December 1, 2020.  
Business Interruption Grants Open Now
The second round of the Business Interruption Grants (BIG) is open. The State is offering $220 million in financial assistance for small businesses impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. Grant funding may be used for working capital expenses, payroll costs, rent and more. The Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity are hosting webinars about the program on October 14 at 9:30 AM and October 21 at 9:30 AM. Registration is required for webinars.

Bring the kids in costumes to trick or treat safely at the Winnetka Farmers' Market this Halloween! Vendors will follow all COVID-19 safety protocols. Face coverings are required for all. The Winnetka-Northfield Chamber of Commerce hosts the market every Saturday from 7:30 AM - 12:30 PM. The market is sponsored by the Village of Winnetka.
