Social Work Placements: Third Sector's Support Needed

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, all social work student placements were suspended in March.

Now, the Social Work Education Partnership is working to ensure that all final placement students across Scotland are able to access high quality placement opportunities.

Along with Iona Colvin (the Chief Social Work Adviser to Scottish Government), the Partnership is reaching out to third sector organisations to create new and innovative placement opportunities for future social workers.

Iona Colvin has written
a public letter to all third sector groups and organisations, which includes information on the placements, including durations, support grants and the amounts paid to placement providers.

Free "Protect Scotland" App Available

The free app from NHS Scotland’s Test and Protect is now available to download through the Test and Protect website, and via the App Store and Google Play.

Designed to help keep Scotland safe from COVID-19, the app is the next step in stopping the spread of COVID-19, and complements existing contact tracing measures. It helps Scottish Government and NHS Scotland to determine contacts that may have otherwise been missed, and allows them to alert people at risk far more quickly.

This app uses technology developed by Apple and Google, and is already working successfully in other countries across Europe. It works in the background of your device, using minimal data.

The app uses Bluetooth technology, so it never knows your identity or location.
