Newsletter: October 9th, 2020

Even though the holidays are going to be different this year as we limit our gatherings to our small social bubbles, there's still lots of room to celebrate.
Happy Thanksgiving Sandaraska!
Hydro
All the meters have been read final hydro bills are in the works! If you are at the park this weekend, you can pop by the office and settle up. The office is open seven days a week, but we will be closing at 1 pm on Monday October 12th for Thanksgiving.

Winterizing
If you have not yet scheduled your winterizing, we recommend you get that done as soon as possible! There's information at the office to schedule with either Denny Martyn or Jason Butler (final day to winterize with Jason is October 19th). Spots are filling up, so contact them soon!

Leaves and Maintenance
We ask that you please rake your leaves to the end of your lot and we will vacuum them up after the weekend. Be sure to remove all branches, rocks, pieces of wood, garbage, and other debris from these piles!
A message from the Social Committee...

Your social committee is hopeful that we can resume our events next year, however we need your help to be able to do so. At the end of 2019, Liza Bauer resigned. Thank you Liza for your wonderful contributions.

Therefore we need another member. We are also looking for individuals to run single events. For example, the way Natasha Ryan has organized a fun bike decorating event for Canada Day.

Over the winter, please consider volunteering, we are hoping to make it an even better year!

A message from Dennis and Kim: The End of an Era

Well I guess it's pretty obvious now, that Kim and I have decided to leave Sandaraska Park as seasonal campers this season. This decision was solely ours. We made so many amazing friends and acquaintances there over the 18 Fantastic seasons. From the great times at social functions to the fantastic times around our bonfire with both our musician / non-musician friends in the park (you know who you are) and the great people that came by. Who would have thought that when our band played outside in the circle that we would by buying in the park within 2 weeks and spend 18 years there. We've witnessed numerous changes there including 3 changes in ownership of the park as a lot of you know. Yes we had possibly one of the oldest 44 foot trailers in the park situated partially on a double lot #80. 1959 for the record. Our opportunity came this year to have it removed at minimal cost to us, but yes a lot of work.

Keeping this short, we would like to take this opportunity to wish all of our friends and fellow campers, as well as the owners and all the staff at Sandarska Park a Very Happy Thanksgiving in spite of these uncertain times. Also Congratulations to Morgan and Kyle with the purchase of Sandaraska Park I'm sure there's going to be a lot of great things happening in the years to come. STAY SAFE EVERYONE!

The trailer has reached its final resting place in a hunting camp.
All the best to Dennis, Kim, and family. You will be greatly missed!
Kyle's Winter Checklist:

- Winterize trailer: Blow out water and use RV antifreeze. If you are not going to do this yourself make sure you use someone reputable, if done wrong the mistakes can be very expensive. This needs to be booked well in advance. Calling around to book this at the end of October may not have the best results. If you know you are leaving mid-October then book the winterizing for then. Book it now that you are thinking about it...

- Disconnect water and hydro connections.

- Do not wrap electrical connections in plastic bags.

- Do not wrap your trailer, your water heater, or anything else in plastic. The plastic does not breath and will only hold in the moisture and stuff will rot faster. If you're not going to believe me and still want to wrap things in plastic; at the very least please don't wrap my stuff in plastic...aka electrical connection

- Ensure that your lot is clear and any personal belongings have been put away.

- Make sure there is no food or garbage in the trailer or in shed to attract animals.

- All cleaning supplies and anything that can freeze are taken away.

- Remove any tap splitters on the water connections.

- Put awnings and gazebos away.

There is still lots of beautiful weather left, I think the fall is the prettiest time throughout the grounds, but as we start to think about closing up, consider the above.
