This is the hardest time of year for me as the person responsible for HRI, the programs we run and, most importantly, the children and families we serve. It is the time when I must reach out and ask that you, our dedicated supporter, make a truly impactful end of year gift. So many lives depend upon all of us as we move forward in 2020 and into 2021.
We are immensely appreciative for all of your past support of Hunger Relief International (HRI). However, as we near the end of 2020, your help is needed URGENTLY!
Every year has its challenges; however, 2020 has certainly been extraordinary. We have persevered against all odds to directly serve more than 3,900 people already in 2020! That is a 6% increase in people served compared to last year and does not include the more than 50,000 people who benefitted from 125 hand-washing stations, masks, disinfectants, and prevention messaging!
However, like so many nonprofits and businesses, we are weathering a significant financial hit as many of our donors have suffered the loss of employment, huge medical bills, and the need to save “just in case” the worst should happen to their families. Donations are currently down 18% compared to this time last year.
Nevertheless, HRI expanded our programs and made every penny stretch to a dollar, every dollar to ten, and every ten dollars to one hundred. Lives depended on it!
So, even as the world faces diverse challenges, thanks to donors like you, HRI continues to forge ahead with innovative programming that responds directly and expeditiously to the needs of extremely poor children and families.
As we enter the last quarter of 2020, if you are able, PLEASE CONSIDER GIVING A SACRIFICIAL GIFT to help the orphans, widows, helpless and hopeless.
Here are a few specific needs that will always put Children First:
$20 will provide food to one orphan or child for one month (need $20,000)
$100 will provide a water filter to reduce water-borne illness or feed a family for one month (need $5,000)
$150 will provide an education to a child who will not be able to attend school otherwise (need $15,000)
$230 will provide a safe cook-stove to a family, significantly improving their health and safety, as well as the environment (need $2,300)
$500 will provide a clean water filter, safe cook-stove and modern latrine for a family (need $5,000)
$650 will provide child-rearing, finance, and business training to an extremely impoverished single mother and will equip her with small business start-up supplies (need $19,500)
$5,000 will replenish our emergency fund (need $25,000)
