Generosity in Islam


*Theme of the Month


"ٱلَّذِينَ يُنفِقُونَ أَمۡوَٰلَهُم بِٱلَّيۡلِ وَٱلنَّهَارِ سِرّٗا وَعَلَانِيَةٗ فَلَهُمۡ أَجۡرُهُمۡ عِندَ رَبِّهِمۡ وَلَا خَوۡفٌ عَلَيۡهِمۡ وَلَا هُمۡ يَحۡزَنُونَ" 

Those who spend their wealth [in Allah's way] by night and by day, secretly and publicly - they will have their reward with their Lord. And no fear will there be concerning them, nor will they grieve.


-اللَّهُمَّ أَعْطِ مُنْفِقًا خَلَفًا-

It is reported in the Sahih that the Prophet said:‘ O Allah! Compensate every person who spends in Your cause'

Upcoming BCPL Virtual Events


*Baltimore County Public Libraries

The ConnectFest Virtual Event will take place on Saturday, October 17 from 1:00 PM - 5:00 PM.

This event will include a series of 45-minute virtual sessions designed to connect citizens to critical resources.

Sessions will include: 
  • Housing and Utility/Energy Assistance
  • Mental/Behavioral Health Resources
  • Food Access Resources
  • Health Insurance/Voting Resources  
Registration begins on Saturday, October 10 at 1:00 pm. Participants do not have to attend all the sessions.

A valid email address is needed at registration.  

BCPL offers a variety of virtual programs for all ages!  Find information about all our upcoming programs on our website bcpl.info.

What does generosity look like?

  1. Amani Brown | 4th Grade - It looks like love, care, helpfulness, and being kind.
  2. Sakeenah Maniar | 5th Grade - I think it means that you are kind to others and you are willing to help people out.
  3. Zaid Rushdan | 3rd Grade - Once I was at a restaurant and the waiter was very nice. We gave him a lot of money as a tip. He was very happy and thanked us.

  4. Mikaylah Bell | 6th Grade - To me in color and temperature, generosity looks like a rainbow of color and warm all over. It is also helping others without expecting them to do something for you in return or receive praise.

  5. Multazim Khan | 2nd Grade - To be kind, to respect others.

  6. Maya Patel | 4th Grade-  It looks like caring and helping people, for example, You have an umbrella and it is raining, you see a person without an umbrella and she looks very cold so you share the umbrella with her.

  7. Hannah Mirza | 3rd Grade - Generosity is an act of kindness and people who are generous are kind and nice.

  8. Suhaan Talukder | 2nd Grade - You can give food to people who don't have food.

  9. Maryam Ali | 2nd Grade -  You can help the poor in need and you can give food.

  10. Zakariya Alavi | 2nd Grade - To be nice.

  11. Jihan Organ | 2nd Grade - To help a friend in need if they are poor.

  12. Aayan Wahab | 2nd Grade -  Help and give money to the poor.

  13. Nusibah Hasan | 2nd Grade -   Help the poor and give food.
