Terrifying Tales Short Story Contest
For ages nine and older. 

Submissions due October 21.

Put your spooky storytelling skills to the test in the King County Library System Terrifying Tales Short Story Contest! Send us your original tale by October 21 for a chance to publish it on our website.

We will judge stories on creativity, the quality of the writing, and how much they terrify us. Limit your story to 1,500 words or less. Winners will also be invited to share their stories at our Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark event on October 31.

Barely Tolerable Tales

For adults.
