Family Retreats
This summer, we offered physically-distant family retreats for the families of campers whose sessions were cancelled. It was deeply rewarding! The Ekone experience is so exactly what so many kids, adults, and families are needing right now; an oasis of support, spacious play, and a sense of community, even if from a lil distance.
We're going to offer a couple more family+ retreats through the fall, and MAYBE through the winter. Here's the deal:
- During the colder months, we can only take 1-3 "households" at a time, depending on how cold it is--only one section of the Bunkhouse is heated.
- A "household" is defined as the people you are already regularly sharing airspace with (potentially outside your immediate family). All members of a household will be sharing airspace in the Bunkhouse.
- We won't offer programming or guided activities for these retreats; it'll be a DIY experience. (Take yourselves on a hike! Bring some games! Don't forget your book!)
- Ekone staff and volunteers WILL be doing the work of the ranch, and you'd be welcome to join us! We'll always welcome help with putting the garden to bed, planting the garlic, tending the forest~ and we won't be having our normal workparties.
- We'll provide all meals and eat outside when weather permits, or food can be taken to the Bunkhouse.
- Cost is on a pay-what-you-can sliding scale and we'll gladly provide scholarship support when needed. As a point of reference, $200/person covers the cost of our staff time and hard expenses; $400/person supports the ranch and helps make it possible for others to come.
- We expect there to be far more interest than availability. Our application form will ask why your family is in need of this retreat, and we'll try hard to do the most good for the most people.
Dates available (Friday arrival, Sunday departure):
- October 16-18
- November 6-8
