Giinagay...
As Class 8 finally managed to embark on their much awaited Wilderness Walk yesterday after extensive mid-holidays re-organising, due to camp restrictions being lifted by the NSW government, we are equally as excited to announce that many of our younger classes will too get to participate in their own camps this term. Please read through this newsletter carefully for reminders re bus changes, school policies, as well as class meeting times and camp dates. These newsletters are a key component of our direct communication with school parents, and we remind parents to read them on a regular basis.
We are all excited for all that this final term of a some what challenging 2020 will bring and look forward to the children coming back to school tomorrow.
Front desk position available...
Chrysalis is seeking a warm and confident reception/administration assistant to support the running of the School’s office by assisting staff, students and families. Applications close COB Friday 23 October 2020. Please see our advertisement with selection criteria here.
Class meetings...
As parents are still not allowed on campus, class meetings will be held via Zoom this term. Please see below for a list of the meeting times.
School fees for Term 4...
Due to recent short staffing in the admin office, the Term 4 invoices and current statements will be sent electronically next week. As such, the payment due date for school fees will be extended by a week to Friday 30 October. Please pay your term's fees in full by that date, unless you have made prior arrangements to pay by instalments. Remember, if you are experiencing significant, continued financial hardship due to COVID, the school encourages you to contact Tim Fry (business@chrysalis.nsw.edu.au) to apply for fee relief.
If you are intending to withdraw your child/ren for 2021, please notify the school in writing by this Friday 16 October, as one term's notice is required or a withdrawal fee of one term's fees will apply for each child.
School policy reminders...
- Please be reminded that changes to your child's usual bus plans need to be put on a note in your child's bag if the change is known about prior to them leaving for school. If not known until later, the change can be phoned through to the office prior to 1pm on the day to ensure the message can be passed on to the class teacher with sufficient notice outside of class time. Your child will always be put on their default bus, unless there is a written note or phone call to the office. Changes are not to be emailed to the office, nor directly communicated to the teacher, or the student, during the school day. In line with our duty of care, a verbal instruction of change through a child will not be followed through.
- With warm and wet days upon us, it is timely to remind parents that suitable clothing is required at all times. The School Dress Code policy can be found on the website and notes that students at Chrysalis School are expected to wear comfortable clothes and shoes appropriate for a broad range of school activities, indoors and out, including physical education, games, eurythmy, technology and science.
Pack an umbrella, raincoat and/or a change of clothes, in a plastic bag inside your child's school bag, in case of rain.
- Ensure that food brought to school is healthy with minimal packaging. At school, we compost and recycle, like many of you do at home. It would be great if parents could remind children, Chrysalis is striving to care for the environment just like you at home are, and could the children please dispose of their waste consciously - find the right bin, or ask a teacher.
Parents & Friends rekindling...
The P&F is in the process of rekindling, we would love to invite all interested to keep an eye out for our next meeting. There are opportunities for parents to become a part of the core committee or to be on the helping end volunteering where they can. Parents who are already involved are Amy, Jules, Sammi and Sarah. We would love to form a friendly, active P&F with possibly our first project being a weekly lunch service for the children.
Please email sarahellenwithers@gmail.com if you are interested and we will create a WhatsApp group to start the conversations.
COVID-19 update...
Anyone who is sick with flu-like symptoms, even with mild symptoms, should not attend school. For now certain school events must continue to remain on hold, including no Parent attendance at assemblies and other school events, plus parents are to remain in their vehicles for drop off and pick ups (not the classrooms). Please contact Administration (6655 8616), first, if you need to visit the School for any other purpose. Thank you for your understanding.
Blessings on the term... yaarri yarraang,
Lisa & the Leadership Team
