Synopsis:
On 10-03-2020 at 11:45 P.M. Mendocino County Sheriff's Deputies were dispatched to Adventist Health Ukiah Valley in regards to an assault victim being treated at the hospital.

Deputies responded to the hospital and began their investigation.  Deputies interviewed a 42 year-old female and learned she had allegedly been physically assaulted by Leonel Valenzuela.  The couple were reportedly involved in a romantic relationship.

During the physical assault, the adult female received visible injuries and was pregnant at the time of the assault. The Deputies also learned that Valenzuela held the adult female against her will during the assault.

The Deputies later located Valenzuela at his residence and arrested him without incident.

The Deputies learned Valenzuela was on formal probation out of Mendocino County. A probation search of Valenzuela's residence revealed a short barreled assault weapon.

The Deputies continued their investigation and learned that Valenzuela was prohibited from possessing/owning a firearm.

The Deputies developed probable cause to believe Valenzuela had committed the crimes of 273.5 PC (Domestic Violence Battery), 33215 PC (Possession of Short Barrel Rifle), 30605(a) PC (Possession of Assault Rifle), 29800(a)(1) PC (Felon/Addict Possession Firearm), 1203.2 PC (Violation of Probation) and 236 PC (False Imprisonment).

Valenzuela was booked into the Mendocino County Jail where he was to be held in lieu of $25,000.00 bail.
