2020 Conference and BPD Awareness Week
The theme for both events BPDAW 2020 posterthis year was 'Flipping the Script: Changing the Narrative on BPD' aimed towards encouraging people to change the way they think and talk about borderline personality disorder. Most events were held online, and are now available to view at

Canberra BPDAWCanberra Weekly shared how Natalie Malcolmson is building a community for people living with BPD through a peer support model of Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) groups. Many of her community gathered in Belconnen Park on 4 October for the BPD Awareness Week Family Fun Day Picnic. Read more


LGBTIQ+ Healthy Relationships
SIOL logoSay it Out Loud encourages people from LGBTIQ communities to start talking about relationships. Their website has articles and videos including red flags for abusive relationships. They also provide tips on managing COVID-19 related stresses on people. 'With the added stress of what is going on around us, it’s important to focus on managing our own emotions so that we don’t take stress out on the ones that we love'. Not BPD specific. Read more

Aged Care Royal Commission - Responses to Final Submission

Our AGM was held online on 21st Oct.  We welcomed 3 new board members; Jo Farmer, Salmaan Ali and Milo Goldacre and all have already added significant value to the Board’s decision-making processes. ValidatedSoon to be presented to government! Currently there are just over 16,550 signatures on change.org. Help us to make the next milestone – 20,000! Encourage your family and friends and colleagues (maybe even your GP) to sign and keep the momentum going. The petition is requesting an increase in the number of funded visits for treating BPD by the MBS Better Access to Mental Health Initiative, from 10 sessions to 40 sessions, for BPD and other complex mental illnesses. Download & Print or Sign Online

Men and BPDDesigned and led by people with lived experience of BPD - Aaron, Jake, and clinicians working in the forensic domain flipped the common misconception that BPD is predominantly a female condition. This event encourages clinicians to be aware that BPD presents in men in similar proportions to women. Carer Tony hosted the event and lived experience EMCEEBRODZ performed his hip hop song 'Flip the Script - Get Equipped' written for BPD Awareness Week. View Video (1:02:37)
