Black, Asian and minority ethnic residents and residents aged 16-25 needed for Bristol’s Quality of Life survey 2020

Help us decide where and how money should be spent

Bristol residents from a Black, Asian or minority ethnic (BAME) background and young people aged 16-25, are invited to take part in Bristol's latest Quality of Life survey. Your voice and opinions, on what it is like living in Bristol, are vital in making sure we have fully represented the views of Bristol residents.

The survey was sent to a random sample of 33,000 Bristol households, but so far response rates have been low from BAME residents and young people so we are particularly keen to hear your views.

The questions are designed to give a fully representative picture of life in Bristol, from the issues that are important in your neighbourhood, like crime and transport, housing and education, to the way your health and wellbeing is supported.

The survey is anonymous, though your age, sex and postcode is required to match results to different areas of the city. You must be at least 16 years old to take part, and responses are particularly welcome from people aged 16-24. You are welcome to skip any questions you don't want to answer.

Your voice helps Bristol City Council decide where and how money should be spent- make sure you are heard. You have until midnight on Sunday 19 October 2020 to complete the survey. Survey link here: www.bristol.gov.uk/QoL20

If you have any queries or require an alternative format email QoL@bristol.gov.uk  or call: 0117 922 2704

Fostering Carers needed for Black and Minority Ethnic Children

We know that Black children are disproportionately represented in our care system. While Black ethnic groups make up 3% of the general population, they make up 7% of the looked after children population. This event is open to anyone to hear experiences of foster carers and fostering teams who are working to find foster carers to care for Black and Minority Ethnic heritage children.

We are so excited to be hosting our sixth Summit, and our first ever to be fully online!

While we would usually spend a whole day together, we realised that expecting you to spend an entire Saturday on a computer screen isn’t ideal or practical, so we will be offering the same inspirational content you’d find at the Summit over a series of evenings, premiering at 8pm each night. If you can’t tune in live, you’ll be able to watch the majority of content at a later time at your leisure.

By signing up, you will be able to access all the main sessions and your selection of webinars hosted by the Home for Good team, but it’s up to you how much you join us for (although, obviously, we’d recommend jumping into every session!) And it’s all completely free and available to enjoy from the comfort of your own home.

Summit 2020 is a chance to imagine together. To imagine a better future for vulnerable children as we equip the Church and individuals to play their part. To imagine what our families might look like as we open our homes to vulnerable children. To imagine better systems and structures that enable every child to thrive. We will seek God together, knowing and trusting that He is ‘able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine…’ (Ephesians 3:20).

The Summit is for everyone who cares about vulnerable children, whether you’re a foster carer, kinship carer, special guardian or adoptive parent, or you’re part of the support network around a family. If you’re passionate about the Church responding to the needs of the vulnerable, you’re wondering whether fostering or adoption might be for you now or in the future, or you just want to find out more about the Home for Good vision and how you can get involved. All are welcome!

Join us to be inspired, encouraged and equipped to play your part for vulnerable children.
