National Ag Day 2020

Continuing professional development is important and at the core of what the AIA is about.

On 20 November we will be celebrating National AgDay 2020.

As an organisation, we will be running events that focus on our development and encourage members to network, albeit virtually. Our National AgDay will put a spotlight on our members and their development, and also our role in delivering Australia’s vision for agriculture.

During the AIA’s recent Strategic Planning Day, we reviewed where we as an organisation would have the greatest impact on contributing to Australian agriculture. During our reflections, we recognised that it is important that we consider our contribution to, and particularly how we support the NFF vision to exceed $100 billion in farm gate output by 2030. We have a role in achieving this vision specifically through building the capacity and influence of Australian agricultural professionals in line with Pillar 2: An industry focused on innovation and improvement. We attract, train and retain the best people. This is an important role that the AIA can and should play.

So in realising that vision, we are investing in National AgDay by offering an opportunity for our members to contribute to the common vision and challenge to grow the sector.

We are running a Challenge for members, that is to put forward your one, best idea for the AIA to propel agriculture to meet the $100bn target. We are also running a Photo Competition and will offer two ethics masterclasses on the day. Further, we will provide opportunities for members to network with other members – one of the most important things that you told us about being a AIA Member.

I encourage members and other professionals in agriculture who are passionate about being a professional in one of Australia’s great growth industries, to invest in themselves and their future and plan to get involved in our AgDay on 20 November. Lock that time in your diary now!
