As you might remember, I was going to host an Art Exhibition of my work this time last year, but had to postpone it last minute when I was selected to go to the magical Paris for a once in a lifetime opportunity, completing an art residency for three months at the Cité des Arts. As promised, I would love to invite you to my anticipated art exhibition.
These artworks are a collection of over 80 pieces in various mediums, and is the result of inspiration I draw from my daily experiences through love, life and my travels, over the past 2 years since my art journey has started.
Through my art I explore the balance between beauty and ugliness, pain and growth, guilt and pride, and how it influences us. I investigate characteristics that shape our personal and social identity, and question stereotypes and conventional thinking through self exploration, culture and gender within my Afrikaans heritage, in a contemporary setting.
The exhibition will take place at my house, which is fitting since it was such a personal journey for me to get to this point where I could actually share my art with the world.
Come join me for a glass of champagne, and explore my creative world with me. Feel free to bring your friends with, whom might also enjoy a fun outing for the day! It will be great seeing old friends, and meeting my facebook friends in real life.
I will also give a demonstration on my linocut process.
