Winter BioMolViz Workshops Announced
 BioMolViz has been working to provide biochemistry and molecular biology educators with assessment tools, instruments, and activities to teach biomolecular visualization. We invite educators to participate in workshops to develop biomolecular visualization assessments, which will be made broadly available to interested instructors through an online repository. We are excited to announce the dates for our winter workshops, which will be online.
Workshop 1: December 14th (Monday) & 16th (Wednesday)
Workshop 2: January 11th (Monday) & 13th (Wednesday)
Two-day workshops (4–5 hr/day) will include a keynote speaker and an optional networking event outside of work time. A $250 stipend will be provided for participation in both days and finalization of your team-written contribution to the assessment database.
We are seeking new attendees and several prior workshop participants. Please pass this invitation along to your colleagues. Workshop details.

Balancing a blend of in-person and online undergraduate research is an unprecedented challenge this semester. Josh Beckham, Associate Professor of Practice at the University of Texas at Austin, will discuss research in his CURE, the Virtual Drug Screening stream of the Freshman Research Initiative, maneuvering simultaneous in-person and online instruction, and teaching biomolecular visualization online. Creating engaging activities for online/blended instruction is paramount this semester. Audrey Shor, Associate Professor at Saint Leo University, will discuss an exercise to reinforce strategies to identify and categorize macromolecules. This activity uses Google Jamboards to facilitate molecular visualization instruction, enabling a seamless transition from traditionally classroom-based collaborations to online teams.
