Dear friends,

I hope you are finding ways in which to feel joy and lightness in your daily life.
Last I wrote was in July about the Jeanine Durning workshop online.

Lots has happened since then and many of your asked to be put on my newsletter.  Unfortunately, I did not save those names and thus copied and pasted all participants.  PLEASE, excuse me if you don't want to receive any of these newsletters...Go straight down and unsubscribe.

Now three months later, I write from Sofia, Bulgaria.
I have been living here for over two months now and me and my family are slowly acclimating. Yes, we've had some covid scares, we've already been sick with a cold, and diarrhea...but both my kids are in school and kindergarten, so that is to be expected. Bulgaria is largely operational.  I went to an amazing International Choreographic Convention called "Movement Research". I even moderated a show one of the nights.  The convention is still online and I highly recommend it to anyone who is interested in movement and dance and the discourse around that in Europe at present.  I will post links at the bottom of this email.

The big news as of two days ago is that I already applied and received a grant from the National Culture Fund, Bulgaria.  I will be making a new online performance about searching for one's identity and national belonging. It will be a series of dual language (Bulgarian and English) events to premiere weekly in March 2021. It will be free and everyone with an internet connection can watch.  I'll be posting more about that soon. The other big new is that I am reviving the Get What You Need residency in Philadelphia.

I still have dreams of teaching online. I still have dreams of doing long distance improvisational duets over the internet. I pray/hope/send energy into the world, that  we all stay healthy (you included), that school continues to be open here, so that I can stimulate and entertain all of us with art, engagement and help other artists going though these strange times.

Read below for what's coming up this month.

GWYN is back in Philly!

Though I am in Sofia, Bulgaria, I am still administering and organizing the next iteration of Get What You Need residency for dance artists.
If you or someone you know makes dance related performance in the Philadelphia area, please share this info with them.
