What a great experience it is when we come together and be intentionally aware of God’s presence and hear the Wisdom of God from Jesus. That’s what happened for Homecoming 2020 this year … just a little differently than what we normally do. On Oct 31, at 3:00 pm, the current Servant Team shared on the MCF YouTube Channel a reading of John 14 and other scriptures. Our hope was to provide a moment of awareness that God works in our lives in such ways as to provide a home away from home. The writer of Hebrews (13:14) puts it this way:
For this world is not our permanent home; we are looking forward to a home yet to come. Therefore, let us offer through Jesus a continual sacrifice of praise to God, proclaiming our allegiance to his name. And don’t forget to do good and to share with those in need. These are the sacrifices that please God.
Take some time and reflect on how MCF was the home away from home God prepared for you while at Murray State. Reach out to those with whom you shared HIS house? Proclaim the name of Jesus in those relationships and let the Spirit reconcile where there was hurt, fill where there is emptiness, and sing out loud where there is life to celebrate!

As many of you may know, I completed my degree in public relations and advertising at Murray State this past May. After graduating, I took some time to enjoy the summer and casually look for jobs. I was stuck living at home, since that's where I landed when the pandemic first hit and students were sent home. With everything that was going on with companies furloughing and on hiring-freezes, it took quite a while for positions, in my field, to pop-up and the interviews to start rolling in. There were times when I lost faith that I was going to get anywhere near my dream first job and started questioning my skills or worth to a company. I knew God would work it out and trusted him to open the right door, but I was struggling with being patient.
Fast-forward to October, I came across a digital marketing position for my family's favorite barbecue sauce, Blues Hog, and its sister company, Gateway Drum Smokers. After a month of being in my new position, I can easily say it is everything I could have asked for in a job to begin my career. I love the people I work with, what I'm doing, and learning about the world of backyard and competition BBQ. I have also relocated closer to my work place. Despite all the complications this year has brought and everything going on in the world around us, God has been very gracious and given things to be joyous for. I am excited for what is to come as I settle into this new company and in my new local community.
Side note: If you are in the market to try a new BBQ sauce, rub, marinade, or smoker, I HIGHLY recommend giving Blues Hog and Gateway Drum Smokers a try. You won't regret it. You can find them at your local Ace Hardware, select grocery chains, or blueshog.com/gatewaydrumsmokers.com.

"On Wednesday, October 28, 2020, we welcomed Nora Jane Remona Toote to the world. She was 5 lbs., 13oz. and 19 inches long. She has us wrapped around her finger, already, and we are so thankful for the tiny, beautiful gift she is! "
