October services

For the rest of October, the service pattern will continue substantially the same as September, with a couple of exceptions:  First, the evening service being brought forward to 6.00pm to make it more accessible to younger people who are a little too old for the afternoon service for children and families. Second, on Sunday 18 October the 10.30am service will include Holy Communion. Zoom Coffee will also continue to run from 10.15-11.00am, see link below. Prayer Ministry will be available by phone, with the numbers of those on duty being advertised on the service sheets. As stated in the September Update (see https://www.allsaintslindfield.org/Publisher/File.aspx?ID=261090), the services have been under constant review, and any further changes will be communicated in due course.

Praying for All Saints

As we enter this time of Interregnum (the gap between Vicars) please would you join us in praying for our church.
·       Clergy – for Stuart and Hugh, strengthen them by grace to keep equipping us and give them a clear and united vision for the months ahead
·       Staff Team – give thanks for a strong core team, pray for smooth daily operations and time to build on their strong pastoral links
·       Parish Profile document – for the right words and time to write, that it would truly reflect our core beliefs and 'who we are' in order to attract the right applicants
·       PCC – for unity in decisions, love and generosity of spirit in holding varying views
·       Churchwardens – wisdom, discernment, good relations with our Patron, Dick Farr (Church Society) and our Diocese.
Thank you

Care for the Family online events

Care for the Family are offering various of their (would be live) tour events, as free online events this autumn. The dates start from this coming week and the events include ones for men, mums, primary parenting and for women of various ages balancing the pressures of life, whilst not losing our identity in Christ. A number of us went to one of their women’s events in Brighton a few years ago and found it very helpful. This is a great opportunity to catch one or more of their events, from the comfort of your home and no babysitters needed! More information and to register for the events see: https://www.careforthefamily.org.uk/events/events-online

Remembrance Sunday: 8 November

This year our Remembrance Sunday commemorations will be a little different from previous years.
The main Remembrance service will take place at 10.50am, preceded by a wreath laying at the war memorial at 10.30am.

We will be holding a regular 9.15am service, but not a 10.30am service. If you would like to join for the regular pattern of All Saints services then please do book in for the 9.15am service. We hope there will be some capacity to book in from the 10.50am Remembrance service, but we will be giving first priority to the Royal British Legion members and their guests. We hope to Live Stream both the 9.15am and 10.50am services to our YouTube channel.

Tearfund Biq Quiz Night 2020

Last year's Tearfund Big Quiz Night was a great success and we would love to repeat this entertaining fundraising event. Sadly, we can't host the event in the church as we did last year so instead are planning to run it through smaller groups. It would be great to run it through homegroups, or with groups of friends or neighbours over Zoom etc.  the questions are written for you, rounds being in true pub quiz style.
If you are interested in joining the quiz on Saturday 14 November then please contact us via quiz@lindfield.info to register your interest and to receive more details to help you in hosting this fundraising event.

This week's Mission Partner Focus: Tearfund

Please give thanks for:
·         The Reboot Campaign which calls for a post-Covid world that allows every person to flourish, along with all of creation; so that together we can protect the most vulnerable in this crisis, and reboot the economy in a fair, sustainable way.
·         Tearfund partners who are speaking out to influence policies, practices and budgets of powerful decision-makers in countries such as Brazil, Venezuela and Pakistan.
·         For local partners who are providing support to some of the one and a half million Syrians now living in Lebanon, providing to everyone in need, regardless of race or religion.
Please pray for:
·         Tearfund’s Covid-19 response in all the countries where they work, particularly Yemen; that healthcare systems can cope and that the provision of handwashing facilities and education programmes for good hygiene continue to have a strong impact.
·         The climate crisis which is making floods and storms more severe across the world; the heaviest rainy season for more than 30 years has affected hundreds of thousands of people in Niger and neighbouring Chad. Please pray for all those missing, those who are grieving and those facing an uncertain future.
·         During Black History Month we pray that governments across the world will act to promote diversity, equality and equity.
