 Hey Scholars!

Through outreach, many of you have mentioned a heavier workload due to the virtual environment. Although, I am the Scholarship Coordinator at Cooperman, I too am a college student at Columbia University!

One of the first things I realized this semester was just how quickly assignments can add up in a remote environment! Keeping an eye on all these assignments and their due dates can be a daunting task, so I recommend creating an assignment tracker. Personally, I’ve made one on Google Sheets which helps me immensely. What I like about this tracker is it can be sorted and filtered by class, due date, and/or completion status. Also, using a formula, it lets me know how many days I have left to complete each assignment automatically based on the due date. All I have to do is glance at the tracker and I’ll realize, oops! I only have four days left to write that midterm paper!

Though creating a tracker doesn’t solve the issue of a larger workload, it can prevent the constant back and forth of checking when assignments are due. You no longer need to try and remember what‘s due the next day or week! I’ve made a template that you can use!" - Mr. Robby

Did You Know....

September was National Suicide Awareness Month. Even though it's now October- it's important to still be aware and reach out for help or to help others all year. Check out some early indicators if you suspect someone is at risk:

⇨Talking about feeling trapped or in unbearable pain
⇨Talking about being a burden to others
⇨Increasing the use of alcohol or drugs
⇨Acting anxious or agitated; behaving recklessly

Are you personally struggling with suicidal thoughts? Please call the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline at 1-800-273-8255 to speak to a crisis counselor, ASAP. For additional mental health challenges, please reach out to the Cooperman Team and we'll help you connect with your university's Counseling Center or our student assistance program, Perspectives.

Tip Of The Month

Are you unsure how to spark a conversation with your professors during office hours?

Tip: Do your research on their research! Use your schools website to search for their professional involvements, organizations they're a part of & research they've done. Don't see it on the website, ask them about it! You can use this as a conversation starter. They may be involved in an area that interests you! (Bonus: It also makes it easier to ask for help!)
