Tax-Exempt Ordinance For Hygiene Products

Councilwoman Erika Green has filed an ordinance for consideration by EBR Metro Council that would allow diapers and feminine hygiene products to be exempted from city sales tax. Diapers and Feminine Hygiene Products are not luxuries, but are daily necessities to the lives of women and families and should not be taxed as such. This presents a serious cost burden that not only disproportionately affects women, but also harms babies by making it harder for families to afford an adequate supply of clean, dry diapers. Members are encouraged to contact their Metro Council Member to share their support of the ordinance.

Strategic Planning Process Incorporating Feedback From Members and Community

The Strategic Planning Ad-Hoc committee shared an update at our recent areas meetings on the focus of this year’s work. The strategic planning process provides the League with the opportunity to raise our sights and look beyond our annual plans to develop ambitious goals otherwise unachievable in any one year. Our consultants at Success Labs surveyed more than 500 new, active, and sustaining members and conducted interviews with community stakeholders, our Community Advisory Board, and various segments of our prospective, current and former members. Thank you to each of you who participated. Your feedback will help keep our League relevant and impactful in years to come. If you did not receive or complete the survey, there will still be other opportunities to participate in the process. We want to hear from you! Please send any thoughts, questions, or ideas to Adrian Owen Jones, Long Range Planning Chair at adrianowenjones@gmail.com

JLBR Civic Leadership Training Program Is Celebrating 89 Years!

We also ask that you complete your training evaluations to share feedback for improvement, and use the hashtag #JLBRtraining on social media when posting takeaways from sessions.
