Hi <<First Name>>,

What is the QiHub - and how will it assist you

Leanne Kemp and her entourage proclaimed and explained lots from the wider world during our special Entrepreneurs’ Day Out on the Tablelands with the Qld Chief Entrepreneur.

From left to right: Christine Doan, Co-Chair of ST, Carmel Crathern from Advance Queensland, Nicolle Kelly, Executive Director of Innovation at Dept of Innovation, and Leanne Kemp, Qld Chief Entrepreneur.

One proclamation was that the QIHub is the way to go in particular for regional entrepreneurs and innovators who are looking for knowledge and connections.

Did you ever jump on a “helpful” website and find it less than helpful because it’s not clear to you how to navigate it?  That’s the way I feel about jumping on some websites!

Startup & Innovation Tablelands (ST)  invited Carmel Crathern (pictured above) to return to us via Zoom to explain how to get the most out of QIHub.  Carmel is a true warhorse for the innovation sector, whom many of you met during our Leanne Kemp day two weeks ago.  She will bring along Martha Leask, one of the specialists in QIHub as well.

Ready to have a guided tour through the QIHub?  This is the website that the Qld Dept of Innovation reckons will cut through the need to upskill and network on the same platform.

Every Friday at 12:30 we have held a Zoom gathering to support all Tablelands businesses since before COVID lockdowns clicked into place. Its popularity has inspired us to continue the program.

Our Friday Zoom is a mix:  there are some structured sessions with local or southern facilitators, and then some sessions where we loosely discuss whatever is coming up for the entrepreneurs on the call.  We cover everything from creating a safe place to discuss some of our deeper worries about running a business to the finer points of how to structure your new business entity.

It’s a smorgasbord of entrepreneurial goodies and it’s entirely free!

DRIVERS’ CORNER:

A last-minute meeting has been called for 3:30 pm this Tues, 6 Oct, on the ST Zoom. (just type ST Zoom ID into Slack search function and the number will come up for you).  Hope some of you can attend to spend an hour or so musing over and discussing purpose/vision/strategy in the context of the current COVID situation and with the addition of several new or relatively new Drivers.

For those with a particular interest in supporting local indigenous businesses, Shane Motlap of TRC, Alison and I met last week and have mooted a meeting and lunch 10:00 to 13:00 at TBH on 22 Oct.  Margot, with lots of experience in this area, is keen to meet Shane, and I’m sure some others of you will be as well.  The purpose is to plan the 22 Oct gathering, 8:30 Wed morning, Oct 7, is the proposed time but I have yet to confirm with Shane.

And, not to forget our regular Driver meeting, second Tues of every month, 5 pm, on ST Zoom.
