In deze nieuwsbrief vind je het complete programma voor de Sustainability Week, een uitnodiging voor een nieuwe editie van de Barn Talk, en zijn er meerdere kansen om je in te zetten voor een duurzamere samenleving!

Daarnaast stellen we de nieuwe Green Office teamleden aan je voor en houden we je op de hoogte van het laatste nieuws.

Sustainability Week: 12-16 oktober

Duurzaamheid is zo veelbesproken dat het soms altijd wel duurzame week lijkt. Daardoor zou je bijna vergeten hoe veelzijdig en verrassend duurzaamheid kan zijn. Niet tijdens de duurzame week! Van 12 t/m 16 oktober stappen we buiten de sleur van het dagelijkse duurzaamheidsdebat en kijken we verder naar innovatieve oplossingen.

Maak bijvoorbeeld kennis met het burgerinitiatief dat eigenhandig pesticiden in natuurgebieden op de kaart zette, leer alles over plastic-etende paddenstoelen of ontdek hoe je minder afval kunt produceren. De meeste activiteiten zijn groepjes minilezingen: perfect om iets nieuws te leren, zonder de hele dag naar een scherm te moeten staren!

Living Lab: werk met ons samen!

De Green Office is op zoek naar studenten die een echte casus willen onderzoeken op het gebied van duurzaamheid. Zowel bachelor- als masterstudenten kunnen met ons samenwerken via de Green Living Lab. Bekijk onze onderwerpenlijst en stuur een mailtje naar greenoffice@rug.nl met jouw voorkeur of eigen idee!

Duurzame events in Groningen

Blijf op de hoogte met de Green Office Sustainable Calendar!

Met deze Google Calendar kun je alle duurzame evenementen in en om Groningen zien, je voegt 'm makkelijk toe aan je eigen agenda.

7 oktober: Barn Talk over Duurzame Mobiliteit

Komende woensdag vindt van 16.15 tot 17.30 de volgende Barn Talk plaats over duurzame mobiliteit. Gastspreker Zeger Baelde (Managing Director Rijksdienst Wegverkeer) gaat in gesprek met een viertal panelleden. Ook als kijker kun je actief deelnemen door je mening te geven over de volgende stellingen:

Wat moet de overheid doen? Subsidies? Belastingen?
Moet de overheid ingrijpen bij de vele bezorgdiensten? Bijvoorbeeld door een centraal afhaalpunt?
Moeten fossiele brandstoffen verboden worden in stedelijke gebieden?

Nieuw Green Staff Team

Renate Kat en Suzanne Lanooij (PhD-onderzoekers bij FSE) starten een samenwerking met de Green Office, waarin ze onderzoeken hoe plastic afval kan worden verminderd in de laboratoria van de RUG.

Ben je RUG-staff en heb je interesse in of ervaring met het verminderen van plastic afval en/of kwaliteitscontrole van laboratoria? Word dan lid van het GO Greener Labs Committee! Stuur ons een mail op greenoffice@rug.nl!

Ik ben Daniëlle. Sinds januari versterk ik het team als Studentassistent Events.

Tot nu toe heb ik bijvoorbeeld de duurzame week (mede-)georganiseerd, maar ook kleine evenementen zoals Sustainable Living in Groningen of onze pubquiz!

I am passionate about fighting inequalities. In trying to tackle environmental inequalities, it is important to know that even the smallest effort matters.

My role as the ambassador coordinator is to help students be the best sustainability ambassadors they can be and contribute to a greener earth.

My name is Fardau! I joined the team in August in the role of communications officer.

A sustainable society is something we can all help create, no matter how big or small our contribution - and I like to make sure everybody knows that.

Sustainability Week: 12-16 October

We talk about sustainability so often that it sometimes seems like every week is sustainability week. Because of that, you would almost forget how varied and surprising sustainability can be. Not during the Sustainability Week! From 12 until 16 October we go beyond the daily debate on sustainability and we ’ll have a look at innovative solutions.

For example, you can get to know everything about plastic-eating mushrooms, green rooftops or learn how to produce less waste. Most activities are sets of short online lectures: perfect to learn something new without getting exhausted from looking at a screen all day!

Living Lab: collaborate with us!

The Green Office is looking for students who are interested in curricular (research) projects on how the university can become more sustainable. If you are a BA or MA student with an interest in sustainability you can collaborate with us via the Green Living Lab. 7 October: Barn Talk on Sustainable Mobility (Dutch)

In the next edition of the Barn Talk, on Wednesday 7 October from 4.15 p.m. - 5.30 p.m., the panel discusses sustainable mobility. Guest speaker Zeger Baelde (Managing Director Rijksdienst Wegverkeer) and the panel members will discuss the future of mobility and the role of the government. You can actively take part in the discussion through the online platform.

New in our team!

My name is Daniëlle. I've been working at the Green Office as student assistent Events since last January.
