O.Hey-lloween is coming

Well dip us in caramel and cover us in leaves, it's finally October. Are you ready for the spiciest holiday of them all, or does it just feel like Child's Play? Regardless, your O.Hey team has just the black-cat-scratch for whatever fall itch plagues you. Just scroll on down, and choose your autumnal adventure.

Forward this to your official backyard bonfire team.

But first, a giveaway:

Let's get started:

The call is coming from inside the house. If you answer it, run to:

:: Kersey Valley's Spooky Woods where the scares happen as soon as you hit the winding dirt road.
:: Haunted Hills Terror Drive in Pittsboro, if after an hour drive you still want to stay in the car.
:: Woods of Terror on N Church St. After 29 years of scaring people, they can't stop/won't stop.

OR do you let the phone ring and turn on every single light? Continue below:

You're an executive from the big city who just inherited a pumpkin farm in Nowhere, USA. If you fall for the local mechanic, follow that tractor to:

:: McLaurin Farms on N Church St. for pumpkin picking.
:: J. Razz & Tazz Farm in Gibsonville for hay rides, corn mazes, and more.
:: Zane's Clodbuster Farms in Kernersville has the same, plus a flashlight maze.
:: Summerfield Farms for the market, events, or even the AirBnB!
:: The best NC fall foliage hotspots. It's leaf season!

OR do you sell the farm, move back to the city, and learn to truly appreciate UberEats? Continue below:

You wake up to find you're the last person on earth (still quarantining). Close the blinds and click your way safely to:

:: Triad Stage for their interactive murder mystery party, "A Vindictive Vintage".
:: A list of all the best Halloween movies, streaming or on TV.

None of these choices pique your interest? Hit reply, tell us your favorite October activity and we'll let you know which Goosebumps book is your Halloween future!

You drive me phase-y

9 out of 10 hair stylists recommend getting a trim once every reopening phase. Beyond that, we're too exhausted to go through all the implications of Phase 3 which was activated last Friday. Head over here to find out who's allowed where and when. Spoiler: You can now go to the movies, but you can only invite 30 percent of your friend-group. Choose wisely.

We predict so many Hamilton entries

The CDC recommendations prohibit a lot of your standard spooky fun, but that's no reason to cast off your costume. Show it off to Greensboro Youth Council for their Virtual Costume Contest for all ages. They have categories for kids, teens, adults, groups and pets. Send in your snap, then follow GSO Parks & Rec to see if your Watchmen costume takes the crown on October 30.

X marks the spot

Want to feel like a real life Indiana Jones? Don your hat (no whip, but thanks) and join in Greensboro Parks & Rec's "Discover Your Park" contest. Follow the clues to find the Piedmont Discovery logo hidden in neighborhood parks around the city, then enter to win one of many $50 gift cards. Not exactly the Ark of the Covenant, but definitely enough to get us off the couch.

Fall is for festivals

Saturday, Oct 10, 9am-5pm: Brookhaven Mill Farm had us at "sheepherding demonstration". Their FallFest 2020 is packed with so many family-friendly activities, your Instagram will be looking more #blessed than stressed. There's a bounce house, petting zoo, pumpkin patch, hay ride, food trucks, and vendors so you can stock up beside livestock. As we say in 2020, keep your goats close, and your humans at least 6 feet away.

For the fashionable fur-babies

Friday, Oct 16, 7:45pm: Red Dog Farms is putting the run back in runway with their virtual fashion show Dogs on the Catwalk. Log on to see their potential adoptees dressed to the nines, and bid on silent auction items to support their rescue and foster programs.

Time for a calming circle

Wed. Oct 21 & Thurs. Oct 22, 4:30-8:30pm: Summerfield Farms knows what witches want. Grab your broom and fly over to their Hocus Pocus Halloween Picnic. Watch your favorite sisters while enjoying a delicious dinner from 1618 On Location. Costumes are encouraged, even if you dress as a Little Leaguer.

Scary stories to tell in the dark

Friday, Oct 16, 6-7:30pm: Grab a blanket and get cozy for Blandwood's Ghost Stories on the Lawn. Storyteller Cynthia Moore Brown will share family-friendly tales to a distanced and limited crowd, so get your tickets before they disappear.

Even monsters have home lives

Want to know how the other half live (and by other half, we mean the undead)? Tik Tok's @MichaelMyersOfDecatur follows the Halloween hijinks of a would-be Michael Myers and his real-life wife, suffering through his serial-killer sightings in their Midwestern town. Who hasn't asked their spouse why they're silently standing in a corn field?

Go enjoy some second-hand embarrassment. We'll see you next week.
